ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – The city of Albany is considering a partnership to improve three major intersections in the Westover area through new signals, physical redesigns and connecting sidewalks.
The Westover Community Improvement District (CID) is proposing the Westover Triangle Project to upgrade the busy commercial intersections. Two intersections are already being designed with T-SPLOST funds. The third will be designed and paid for by the Westover CID, which is applying for state grants and loans for sidewalk construction and additional costs.
The city manager said working with the CID could help the city save money.
“Leveraging our funding with the opportunity that the CID [proposes] to go after some of these state funding, and potentially federal funding, is big because obviously, they look strongly to CID to help them fund improvements in that area,” the city manager said.
